Djerba-Zarzis airport to Midoun: how long, and how

Allow 22 km and about 20 minutes by road between Djerba-Zarzis international airport (code DJE) and the Midoun tourist zone. Three options: the hotel shuttle booked in advance, a taxi taken outside the terminal, or a rental car collected at the airport.

Djerba-Zarzis international airport sits on the north-west of the island, a few kilometres from Houmt Souk. The Midoun tourist zone, home to Diar Yassine, is to the east. Between them, one direct road and, outside peak hours, about twenty minutes.

The hotel shuttle

This is the simplest option with children, with luggage, or when the plane lands at night: the driver is waiting at the exit, the ride is settled in advance, nobody negotiates on the pavement. The airport shuttle is arranged through reception and charged in addition to the stay.

Add your flight number and landing time to your booking request and the transfer is prepared alongside the room. If your flight is delayed, reception follows the actual arrival time.

The taxi

Taxis wait outside the terminal for every arrival. The run to Midoun is a classic and every driver knows it. Agree on the fare or on using the meter before you get in, and keep some dinars in cash: it makes arrival easier.

The rental car

Rental desks are in the arrivals hall. This is the right call if you plan two or three outings during the week, towards Erriadh, Houmt Souk or Guellala. Driving is on the right, the island roads are good, and the village has guarded parking, which settles the parking question for the whole stay.

Arriving at the village

Diar Yassine sits slightly back from the centre of Midoun, in the tourist zone. Rooms are available from 12 noon. Parking is guarded, wifi covers the whole village, and if you arrive before the rooms open, the day can start at the Smile Café, open from 8 am to midnight.

Heading home

Check-out is before 12 noon. Plan to leave the village about two and a half hours before take-off: twenty minutes on the road, plus check-in. Reception arranges the return transfer on request, exactly as for the arrival.
